Prince William, Duke of Cambridge's palm reading

Prince William, heir to the British throne, is an interesting palm to try to peek into. Firstly, he's a southpaw and he comes from parents who both are documented using their right hands to write with.

In some palmistry resources, reading the left hand's palm lines can be considered reading the characteristics you were born with, as opposed to the right hand, which signifies those you develop in your lifetime. It has been called "the birth hand," however I adhere to the practice of assigning these variations based on dominant and non-dominant hands, and not simply by one's right and left. As such, Will's left, dominant hand is the one to take a good look into in order to see the man he is today.

Will is an Earth hand, and I've noticed that when reading parents' hands, often their children's hands will reflect characteristics from one or both of their parents. For Will, his hand shape resembles his father's. Both share the Earth hand characteristics of being reliably grounded, slow to change in their ways, and as having hands that can "think for themselves." Their mutual strength is their solidity, their mutual weakness is their stubborness.

However, Will's Heart and Head lines are not nearly as close to each other as Charles', which tells us that Will does not have his father's tendency to merge his emotions with his intellect, nor will he rationalize his emotions in order to experience them, such as Charles does. Instead, we see Will's hand resembles his mother's lines, with a more generous quadrangle between the Head and Heart lines, and the Heart line appears to connect to the fingers, showing his ability to connect naturally with others.

Even without seeing the details clearly, we can still observe his Life line is strong, clear and distinct, showing a vital and active lifestyle. It has a typical arch, which is to say Will shall always be well-balanced between his careful nature, as well as his thrill-seeking tendencies.

Of all the lines on his hand, it's Will's Head line that is most distinctly his own, resembling neither parents'. His Head line is long, showing his thought patterns tend towards the harmonious and dreamy side. He is a creative thinker, and pulls from his subconscious easily for inspiration. Although the finer lines in Will's hand remain obscure, with even a glimpse at his major lines we see he is a balanced and pragmatic young man who has a productive mind, someone who is in touch with his emotions, and who lives his life in keeping with his own goals and limitations. As a potential world leader, Will shall use these gifts to assist him in matter of state. In his personal relationships, Will shall strive to continue to maintain his intimacy with his beloved new wife, while balancing the ongoing scrutiny of the world's attention.

Here's to wishing the best to the new couple, and may their love continue to blossom as the years pass by!

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge's palm reading

Kate Middleton's life is changing dramatically in just a short time, once the wedding itself arrives later this month, and although the English Rose has been photographed extensively, thus far her tendency to wear gloves has made it impossible to find this future Queen's palm lines. However, we can still read other aspects to her hand, and Kate seems to be an Air hand, although I think she has a touch of Water thrown in as well.

Air hands are well suited to the high-profile lifestyle that Kate's life will become due to their thoughtful and often careful nature. Air handed people tend to behave logically rather than emotionally, and as such Kate will continue to handle herself well in the onslaught of press that her life is destined to become. Composed to the core, Kate will continue to represent her royal role with gracious dignity as the years continue.

Her knuckle patterns show a sensitivity and softer side to her manner of dealing with others, and diva-like moments will be few, if ever, seen by the public. Her emotional understanding connects her with others, and softens her innately intellectual nature from becoming a purely cerebral.

Reinforcing these empathic qualities is Kate's noticeably dropped Mercury (pinkie) finger. Ultimately, although she will handle herself well in her public role, Kate is private by nature and does not thrive in the limelight. As such, she will not seek attention for herself (Fergie ring a bell?) but will use her privileged position for charitable acts, in the tradition of William, her betrothed, as well as his mother, Princess Diana.

The caveat I would give to this potential Queen is to manage her highly self-critical side, because failures are due in the course of time, if only to learn from in the exalted position she will hold. With the shadow of the last Princess of Wales' legacy as an example to learn from, we can hope Kate will learn to tame the beast inside which can become harshly and unhelpfully insistent on punishing her for the moments when she will inevitably stumble. Her outwardly sunny demeanor endears her to so many whom she can rely upon, if she allows herself to, within her own intimate circle.

Prince Charles of Wales' palm reading

I expected Prince Charles of Wales to be an Air hand. His reputation as a philosophical man, prone to living the intellectual life, are typical Air handed traits. And yet, Prince Charles is an Earth hand -- he has bear paws, who would have thought?

Pragmatic, stubborn, slow (and even resistant) to change, Earth handed people are "solid as a rock" and as such, they are the least inclined towards flights of fancy, or any type of "magical thinking" that esoteric and occult studies promote. Interestingly, Earth hands often have hands that think for themselves, and will often have a hobby (if not an actual career) in which they can put their smart hands to work. As Charles inherited his mother's love for the outdoors life, perhaps it is his connection to sporting that allows his Earth handed nature to best express itself.

And my goodness, but just look at those conflicting, myriad lines! When reading clients with so many lines, it's like walking into a crowded bar and trying to have an intimate conversation... these hands make so much noise for me when I'm in "reader's mode" that it can be a challenge to focus, line by line, to build a reading.

His palm is startingly similar to Charlie Sheen's (of all people!) in that he almost has a Simian crease, but not quite. The closeup shows shows a hairline connection from the Head line to the Heart line, and although Prince Charles' Head line runs long (a sign of someone whose thoughts run in contemplative manner) it also takes a noticable path down the palm (indicative of a depressive mindset). Could a tendency towards depression be a lifelong battle of Charles' that he's hidden from the rest of the world? His palm says yes.

Charles' close-but-not-quite style of Simian crease is more familiar to me, and it shows a tendency to rationalize one's emotions, a synthesis between the heart and the head. Love is born of logic, and emotions are intellectualized perhaps even more than they are simply experienced. The notion of irrational actions spurred by passionate emotions is absolutely inconceivable to these people.

And it makes me dizzy. I can't find a distinct origin or marking for an Ego line at all, which is a stunning similarity to his first wife, Princess Diana's, palm. Or it could simply be the difficulty with the photos we find.

This shot gives a slightly different cast of light, which allows a bit of clarity.

Obviously a photo from a few years ago, Charles is younger looking and his palm is slightly less hash-marked (an interesting example of how our lines continue to subtly change throughout our lives) than in the first example.

I wouldn't suppose Charles to be an intuitional person by nature, he just doesn't seem the type. However, his palm says otherwise. Charles has a prominent enough Intuition line that we see his gut instinct is vital and his intuition also presents itself at the mental level with times of clairsentience, as well as dreams that feel more like spiritual visitations.

But it doesn't end there! When reading the Victorian palmist Cheiro's books, he mentions a different location to the Intuition line, and it's a location that I see less often in America. But Charles has it. It's the horizontal line that stems from the outside of his mount of Luna, and points inward. In my experience, it indicates a person who carries a strong karmic bond from a previous lifetime that they are currently seeking to explore and/or resolve. I can find specifics to this karmic thread when conducting live readings, however since it's the kind of information that I best receive through touch, it's just not bloody likely we'll ever know.

Princess Diana of Wales' palm reading

I started this blog because for years now, while watching TV or movies, I find myself spontaneously reading the palms and hands that I see. Princess Diana of Wales was an early celebrity palm I read when I was able to freeze-frame a documentary where she had angrily put her right palm into a photographer's camera to block the shot. It was a perfect palm shot, and I was so intrigued that I took notes and made a rough sketch of her palm's lines. That was 2007.

As you might guess, Princess Di was a Water hand. Emotional, temperamental, generous and yet highly changeable -- the characteristics of the hand shape were all adjectives familiar to the Princess during her life. Across the board, a caveat for Water handed people is to watch out for the tendency to sabotage themselves with destructive behaviors that become dysfunctional coping mechanisms to life's stresses. More than any other hand shape, Water hands are prone to falling into addictive and destructive behaviors due to the emotional realms they live within. Diana's biographers recount her long fight with bulimia, which serves as one way this negative tendency can manifest in a Water hand.

After nearly 4 hours of searching, unfortunately the stills of Diana's palm do not adequately recreate what I saw that fateful afternoon. Even still, many of the characteristics I originally took note of are visible in the closeup (below).

Her impulsiveness is seen in the notable gap between her Life line and her Head line, showing a disconnect between the way she thought about things, and the actions she took in the moment. The Life line's timid and cautious arch is taken over midway with a wild streak that grew more and more, every year that Diana lived. Without a doubt, every year that passed brought out the "wild child" in her even more.

Her Head line shows a strong fork at about the halfway point, beneath her Saturn finger, indicating the schism that existed inside Diana's mind. One aspect of Diana is seen in the long fork that reaches, strong and clear, into the mount of Luna (associated with the subconscious mind). This Diana was dreamy, creative, vibrant. But the other fork plummets down the center of the palm, indicative of a depressed mindset that was given to bouts of hopelessness. Diana's emotional tribulations during her troubled, and highly-publicized, marriage are well known by many, and her palm echoes her sorrowful sentiments clearly.

Diana connected well with others, we know this by her charitable acts in life, and in palmistry by the Heart line's connection to the fingers. The depth of the line bespeaks of the depth she invested in her own emotions. She felt things very deeply, the good and the bad, without a doubt.

Diana's short life is not seen (as some amateur palm readers have assumed) by a short Life line. However, Diana's palm does have a short and extremely shallow Ego line. So little did Diana think herself worthy of having an identity in this lifetime that the line is almost too faint to be seen in this photo, but remains a part of my original notes. In hindsight to her life, it is perhaps the most poignant feature of her palm.

Another aspect of Diana's palm is her remarkably prominent Intuition line. Diana was known for her lifelong interest in psychic phenomenon and it's no wonder given the prominence of her own intuitional abilities. She could listen at every level -- the gut instinct; the mental level, through dreams and clairsentience; and the emotional level, through her profound empathic abilities.

Most certainly, Princess Diana's intuitional and emotional gifts are still missed by so many, although all the more appreciated for what she created during her abbreviated, yet immeasurable life.
